Bodhi is an elven vampire who was expelled from Suldanessellar, which would lead to her becoming undead. At the start of Shadows of Amn, she has formed Bodhi's Vampire Coven to challenge and destroy the Shadow Thieves in Athkatla. She and her group of controlled vampires will also be able to assist her brother's machinations.
Backstory[]
Much of Bodhi's backstory prior to Shadows of Amn is left ambiguous. Once an elf living in Suldanesellar, she was a close confidante to Jon Irenicus, a powerful spellcaster who refers to her as a "sister". She assisted him in his attempt to become a god and suffered the same punishment as him when the plan failed. Both Bodhi and Irenicus were stripped of their connection to the elven race and were cast out of the elven city. It is implied that the nature of the punishment significantly shortened Bodhi's lifespan, as she voluntarily turned into a vampire as means of survival.
In the beginning of Shadows of Amn Bodhi has settled in Athkatla, and formed a Coven of vampires to eliminate her enemies. She is also inextricably involved in Irenicus' plot to drain the Tree of Life and become immortal.
Quests[]
Meeting with Valen's mistress[]
In Chapter 2 of Shadows of Amn, Gorion's Ward must choose whether to side with Bodhi and her vampires or Aran Linvail and his Shadow Thieves and work for the chosen side during Chapter 3. This is introduced to the party via Valen, who delivers a message to you for a requested meeting. The trigger for this event is looking for a quantity of gold saved up and in the party's purse. It should trigger if you have near 15,000 gold (the fee for passage to Brynnlaw).
Bodhi plays an important role in Chapter 4 where she confronts Gorion's Ward in Spellhold. She also obtains a portion of Imoen's divine soul as means to further her dream of immortality.
The final battle with Bodhi[]
In Chapter 6 of Shadows of Amn, Gorion's Ward is confronted by Bodhi in the Athkatla Graveyard regardless of the choice made previously.
Facing Bodhi in combat[]
Depending on the party's choices of either siding with the Shadow Thieves or Bodhi, will determine when the party will have to actually fight Bodhi.
In Chapter 3, if you have sided with the Shadow Thieves and are undertaking a task by Aran Linvail to disrupt and destroy Bodhi and vampires in the Lower Tombs, then you will face Bodhi. This creature is a version that can't actually be destroyed and only damaged and forced to flee. However, this version can still seriously hurt, and level drain the party, and even kill. The battle with Bodhi will continue until she incurs enough hit point loss in order to reach the "flee" the battlefield point.
In Chapter 4, in Spellhold, the party will again meet Bodhi, and eventually have to face her in combat again, as the party navigates the various hurdles and impediments associated with that Dungeon. Bodhi will appear and will attack. The Protagonist will involuntarily change into the Slayer Form, which will eventually drive Bodhi away again. She can't be killed in this chapter, and frankly, she won't kill the protagonist here either.
In Chapter 6, the final battle with Bodhi will occur back in her original lair in the Lower Tombs. In this battle, she can be destroyed for good when she retreats to her coffin, and she is "staked" within.
Abilities in combat[]
In Chapters 3 and 4, the Bodhi creature files, and associated abilities are equivalent to an Vampire (Ancient) creature - see that page for abilities and its immunities (with minor differences). The game has scripted these versions to put up a fight, then when a certain damage level is incurred or another trigger is reached, will flee the encounter. These versions of Bodhi are equipped with the MINHP1.ITM or a similar MINHP20 version, which blocks final death by any means.
In Chapter 6, the Bodhi version is the one reflected on this page's Info Box. It is the strongest version of Bodhi in the game, exceeding that of a Ancient Vampire. This version of Bhodi is still equipped with the MINHP1.ITM, making bodhi immune to being killed and able to transition to her coffin. In order to get rid of this, the party must "weaken" the Vampires in the lair, by using the Elven Holy Water in the room where she is located (add it to one of the blood fonts).

Mod content[]

Installation of the Alternatives mod allows changes to how the party can deal with the Shadow Thieves and Bodhi. Now there is no need to side with either faction in order to undertake a trip to Brynnlaw and search for Imoen in Spellhold. The alternative choices presented mean the party can take down both the Shadow Thieves as well as Bodhi.
The Sword Coast Stratagems mod offers two choices regarding what kind of Bodhi will appear in the game. These are:
Improved Bodhi
This component is inspired by the Improved Bodhi in Westley Weimer's Tactics mod. To quote from the readme to that mod:
Sigh. Bodhi is worth 91K XP -- more than almost anything else in the game. And yet she is a mere brute-force melee fighter who doesn't even drink healing potions. We make her more intelligent ... and give her some impressive pseudo-magical powers associated with vampires of myth and legend. Bodhi gains dominion over bats, the cold, the ground and the grave.
The SCS version of Improved Bodhi is updated to use modern WeiDU coding (to help with compatibility-friendliness) and SCS AI scripting.
You can fight Bodhi in chapters 3 and 6; in chapter 3 (again, following Tactics) she'll pull her punches.
This component is sensitive to the difficulty setting:
BASIC: Bodhi is protected only by fledgling vampires and by a few other undead and uses few supernatural abilities.
IMPROVED: Bodhi uses her Buried Alive (slowing and weakening), Touch of Death (vampiric touch) and Call of the Mistress (control undead) supernatural powers; her allies include two full-strength vampires.
TACTICAL: Bodhi also uses her Cloud of Bats (similar to Insect Plague), Abyssal Darkness (blindness) and Sepulchral Sleep (unconsciousness). Her allies now include four adult vampires.
HARDCORE: Bodhi also uses her Chill of the Grave (cold damage) supernatural power; she is served by two vampire mages.
INSANE: Bodhi's physical abilities and resistances are substantially enhanced (matching the original Tactics version); she gains a permanent Deathly Shroud (cold fire shield) and is immune to first and second level spells. Two Ancient Vampires join her defenders.
Improved Vampires" component: See the Vampire article page and the "Mod content" section for discussion. This component does affect Bodhi, but only if you don't install the "Improved Bodhi" component (in other words, if you want Bodhi to use her original-game abilities more effectively but don't want to give her the extra powers of that component, install Improved Vampires but not Improved Bodhi).
Even with just the Improved Vampires component installed, the SCS Chapter 3 and 6 Bodhi has the following revisions:
Level 25/25 Fighter/Thief Class, HP: 228, STR 24, DEX 24, CON 20, Effective AC: -10, Adjusted THAC0: -9, APR: 4
Physical damage resistance: 25%
Magical damage resistance: 50% (such as Sunray or Bolt of Glory)
See Invisible Creatures by Script
Immune to Turn Undead
Immune to Slay effect (example Mace of Disruption or Azuredge)
Movement Modifier +12
Backstab damage modifier X5 (if attacking from invisibility)
Two melee attack choices: Level Drain (5 levels) and 'Blood Drain" (3 Con) from victim and she gains +15 HP per hit. The second is when opponent is protected from Level drain
Shape change into Mist, Bat, or Wolf Form at will. All have different powers in that form
Cloud of Bats innate ability
Vampire Domination attempted several times during each turn if not protected from Charm Creature effects
Innately and instantly force-cast Heal upon self when only 10% HP remain
With the Improved Bodhi component, she will use some specific powers when facing the party:
During Chapter 3 Encounter: Deathly Shroud, Sepulchral Sleep, Touch of Death, Shapeshift Bat. Note that the Deathly Shroud is like a Fireshield (Blue), but any hit on Bodhi reduces the attacker's saving throws temporarily.
During Chapter 6 Encounter: Cloud of Bats, Abyssal Darkness, Deathly Shroud, Sepulchral Sleep, Touch of Death, Shapeshift Bat, Buried Alive, Chill of the Grave.
