Call Woodland Beings is a 4th level priest spell only usable by druids and shamans. It will summon forth a spellcasting nymph to aid the spell caster.

Description[]

This spell summons forth a nymph to assist the party. The nymph has several priest spells at her disposal and will use them in the best interests of the party (these include Mental Domination, Confusion, and Mass Cure). She will remain under the caster's control until slain or the spell's duration expires.

Gameplay[]

The summoned nymph will utilize the following spells which are cast as a level 5 priest:

If the nymph has not been ordered to do anything and there's not an enemy in sight to attack, she will usually cast a Barkskin on herself, which doesn't expend the one cast of this spell she has available.

The nymph has very low HP and a poor Armor Class, making its main advantage its spell slot value (i.e., A well-utilized nymph can turn a single 4th level spell slot into multiple higher level priest spells).

Despite being considered a level 5 caster, some of the nymph's spells are stronger than they appear because they're coded with minimums based on when a priest (druid, cleric, etc.) can access them. For example, the description of the priest Confusion spell states that it lasts for 1 round/2 levels, so a caster of level 5 should (in theory) only get 2 rounds, but it actually lasts for 7 rounds (as it's normally only available to a divine caster of level 14 and upwards).

By means of this spell, the caster calls a number of magical woodland beings. The type and number of creatures that appear depend upon the level of the druid casting the spell.

1-7th: 1 hamadryad
9th: 2 hamadryads
11th: 2 hamadryads, 1 nymph
The summoned beings will aid the caster by whatever means they possess, staying until the spell duration expires.
