Charm Animal is a spell-like ability that Rangers have, Archers excepted.

Animals are charmed for 20 rounds if they fail a save vs spells (blocked by Magic Resistance, power level 2 ability and it's a neutral charm, so failure doesn't turn creatures hostile).

Enemies considered animals[]

This is a (mostly complete) list of enemies considered animals for the purpose of this ability.

Do note, however, that: a) Most animals with 1 Hit Dice are excluded (such as cats, rabbits, squirrels, birds and bats), but they are still animals, of course; b) A few animals (most of them in BG2EE) are immune to charm (they'll be noted as such); c) Two notable creatures are still incorrectly considered animals in the EEs (Thaxll'ssillyia, who's immune to charm, and Wizard Eyes); and d) All spiders are considered monsters, not animals, so they're not "missing" from the list.
