This article is a Ekandor is a Red Wizard of Thay from the Enhanced Edition whom you first encounter when you meet Neera in Beregost. Just after she approaches you, asking for help against "vicious magic bandits," he attacks along with a Thayan Wizard and two Thayan bodyguards.
If you invite Neera into your party, and keep her long enough to get her quest, you will have a second, and far more deadly, encounter with Ekandor in Adoy's Enclave. During the battle, Ekandor will consume his scroll of Stoneskin if his normally cast stoneskin is removed and he has enough time to use the scroll.
