Entropy poisons the target on hit, save vs. death neg, curable, for 1 damage per second for 3 seconds, the effects are cumulative.
This shortsword is only usable by Haer'Dalis. In the Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, even rogues with Use Any Item may not wield it.
