Full Plate Mail is the best piece of non-enchanted armor that a warrior can use in terms of armor class and modifiers, but its weight of 70 lbs. will limit the available carry capacity of its wearer quite a lot and it requires 15 Strength to wear it. It offers an Armor Class of 1, with an additional -4 AC bonus against slashing and -3 bonus vs. missile and piercing attacks, offering an AC of -3 against slashing and -2 vs piercing weapons and missiles.
This armor can be compared to ankheg plate mail and to plate mail armor. The ankheg plate mail is also equipable by druids, offers the same armor class, weighs 45 lbs. less, but has lower AC modifiers compared to the full plate mail. Compared to plate mail, full plate weighs more (by 20 lbs.) and provides greater base AC and armor modifiers, but full plate is much rarer. This item appears in Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition.
In Baldur's Gate, it is quite rare, with only three available to find during the game. One is sold at the Thunderhammer Smithy for 9000 gold, assuming no charisma or reputation modifiers. The second is worn by the commander of the Black Talon mercenaries, Taugosz Khosann, who will drop his suit when killed. A third suit can be found on a dwarven warrior in Durlag's Tower. The armor will serve warriors well until the very end of the game, as the Plate of the Dark, which is an enchanted set of full plate armor, becomes available only just prior to the final confrontation.
