The Gauntlets of Ogre Power, also known by the name of Hands of Takkok, adjust the Strength of the wearer to 18/00, giving all bonuses including a carrying capacity of 400 lbs. This item is very handy, because it can turn companions with low or average carrying capacity into good pack mules. This item can't be used by mages and thieves, which are more than often companions with a low strength score. This item appears in Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition,Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition.

Location

Baldur's Gate I

It is gained as drop from Desreta in Baldur's Gate while visiting the floating inn, Low Lantern, if you accept her offer to enjoy some 'pleasure.' It's the only permanent strength boosting item, similar to The Brawling Hands, which boost dexterity to 18.

Baldur's Gate II

It can be gained from killing a halfling in Lavok's Sphere, but the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength, which gives the wearer a strength of 19, can be obtained much earlier in the game and can be worn by every class. This item is also needed to make the mighty warhammer Crom Faeyr.

In-game description

Gauntlets of ogre power: 'Hands of Takkok'. The hands of Takkok are exactly that, his very hands. He lost them when he attacked a strange man crossing the Spine of the World. The mysterious man turned out to be a mage of incredible power, and he used Takkok's hands to create this pair of ogre skin gauntlets.
