The Moon Dog Figurine can be used once per day to summon Cerebus, a moon dog, for five minutes each day. Cerebus can attack enemies for the party and has the following special abilities:
  • Moon Dog Howl: it instills fear in enemies who are evil, dispels fear from party members and also casts Protection from Evil upon them.
  • Healing Lick: this restores 8 hitpoints and cures diseases, deafness, blindness and poison.
  • Moon Dog Sight: Sees through and therefore all forms of illusions and invisibility, and detect traps in the area effected by this ability.
  • Improved Invisibility
  • Mirror Image

This item is a reward from the spirit of the lands in the Umar Hills given to Gorion's Ward at the end of the stronghold quest: Ranger - Protector of the Umar Hills. This item appears in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition.

If Cerebus is slain, the moon dog figurine will be added to the inventory of the character who has the item in the inventory slots. In case the inventory is full, the item will be dropped on the ground when the figurine is ready to be used again.

This Figurine of Wondrous Power that calls forth from the ether the moon dog Cerebus. Cerebus will obey the owner of the figurine if he so chooses. Unlike similar figurines, Cerebus serves through his desire to combat evil and forward the cause of righteousness and is not bound by the magic of the figurine.
