The Quarterstaff is the starting weapon for all player classes in the games of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. Quarterstaves can be used by all classes, except Monks. They require two hands to use them, along with a strength of 5 points for most quarterstaves. They weigh 4 pounds, inflict 1-6 points of crushing damage, and have a speed factor of 4. The proficiency for their use is Quarterstaff for all games except in Baldur's Gate, where it's in the Blunt Weapons proficiency. This item appears in Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II, and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition.

In-game descriptionEdit

The simplest and humblest of staff weapons, the quarterstaff is a length of wood ranging six to nine feet in length. High quality quarterstaves are made of stout oak and are shod with metal at both ends. The quarterstaff must be wielded with both hands.
