Short Sword +1 is a magical enchanted weapon but, like the Long Sword +1, a rather common one. When compared with a normal short sword, this weapon deals +1 more damage, has +1 THAC0 bonus, and is faster (has a lower speed factor). Both have the same weight though. This item appears in Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. Only in the original Baldur's Gate this weapon belongs to the small swords proficiency; otherwise, it has the short sword proficiency.
Description[]
“ | The short sword is the first type of sword to come into existence. In the simplest of terms, a short sword can be considered a dagger with a blade so long it can no longer be called a dagger. The term short sword does not exist in sword classifications. However, it has come to be used to describe a double-edged blade about two feet in length. The sword tip is usually pointed, ideal for thrusting. | ” |
