Sphere of Chaos
All enemies within the area of effect must make a Saving Throw vs. Spell every round that they remain in the sphere. If the Saving Throw is failed, one of the following random effects occurs:
– target is polymorphed into a squirrel
– target confused
– target bursts into flames
– target is paralyzed
– target is disintegrated
– target is healed 20 Hit Points
– target is randomly teleported
– target is rendered unconscious
– target is hasted

Gameplay[]

This spell is party-friendly and every effect can be blocked by magic resistance.

As with many other probabilistic spells in the game, this rolls a number between 1 and 100 to determine which effect takes place (if the enemy fails their save):

1-10 enemy is turned into a squirrel for 9 seconds (among other effects, this temporarily sets their maximum hp to 5, meaning that even if they turn back, they'll be almost dead)

11-20 enemy is confused for 9 seconds (ie 1.5 rounds)

21-30 enemy takes 3d6 + 6 fire damage

31-40 enemy is paralyzed for 9 seconds

41-50 enemy is disintegrated

51-60 enemy is healed for 20 hp (there's still a save, so, if they succeed, they won't be healed)

61-80 enemy is put to sleep for 9 seconds (note that this has a 20% chance of occuring, unlike the other effects, that have a 10% chance)

81-90 enemy is teleported around, as if affected by Teleport Field

91-100 enemy receives the effect of normal haste (there's still a save, so, if they succeed, they won't be hasted)

Although the odds of each specific effect happening aren't great, one should keep in mind that enemies who remain in the area of the Sphere of Chaos must roll a save against a new effect every round for 10 rounds. This means that, for example, if an enemy with no magic resistance were to stay in the area for the full duration (10 rounds), they would have a ~65% chance of having to roll a save against disintegration (or any other effect with a 10% chance) at least once. Or an ~89% chance to roll a save, at least once, against either disintegration or the squirrel polymorph (the two most deadly effects).
