The Throwing Axe +2 is a magical axe which can be used in melee combat and as a throwing weapon. The axe is enchanted in the Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and in Baldur's Gate II, but appears in the latter only during the Enhanced Edition campaign The Black Pits II: Gladiators of Thay. In the original Baldur's Gate, it still has the +2 bonuses, but carries no enchantment. The axe will return to the thrower, like a boomerang, making it the only ranged weapon in the original campaign that requires no ammunition.

This throwing axe has not only been finely balanced for use as a missile weapon but has also been the subject of significant magical enhancement. As a result, it is both more damaging and more accurate than any non-magical weapon of a similar style.
