The Umar Hills is a series of hills that conceal the village of Imnesvale. Valygar Corthala can be recruited here.
There have recently been numerous deaths in the hills, leaving the locals very afraid. Some blame the return of an ancient evil, the Umar Witch, whilst others look to more recent threats, in the form of a band of monstrous warriors that recently began camping in the caves nearby. The village is desperate for salvation, and will turn first to Mazzy Fentan and then to Gorion's Ward to be rescued from their plight.

The Imnesvale Invasion mod provides a tactical encounter that will take place the first visit to Imnesvale/Umar Hills after returning from the Underdark. The mod will automatically begin, with no chance to do anything before its initiation. See the link for details.
Within the Imnesvale Inn you can initiate the Trials of the Luremaster mod by speaking with Hobart Stubbletoes the halfling - this exceptionally well-done quest and adventure scenario has as much content and more than all of the Umar Hills questlines. See the link for further reading.
The Sword Coast Stratagems mod makes many revisions to most creatures found on the Umar Hills area map, whether permanently placed or if a random encounter. Most of the revisions are to the creature's AI and tactical behavior, and sometimes it is to creature abilities and weapon proficiencies.
The Unfinished Business (Baldur's Gate II) mod makes revisions associated with Valygar Corthala and his ranger guardians. Additionally, the items Boots of the West and Taragarth the Bloodbrand will be restored to the game within buildings and creatures in the Umar Hills map.
