Windspear Hills is an area in the Shadows of Amn campaign that becomes accessible either by accepting a quest from the dryads on the first level of Irenicus's Dungeon or from Lord Jierdan in the Copper Coronet.

Confronting Monsters

Upon arrival you’re attacked by a group of elegantly speaking monsters. If you have Keldorn or Anomen in the party, after the battle they’ll identify one of the dead monsters as the paladin Ajantis, one of your former companions who, along with his squire and several other knights, were under an illusion that made them all appear as monsters. Obviously somebody is plotting to frame you by arousing the anger of the Most Noble Order of the Radiant Heart.

If you accept Garren Windspear’s hospitality and follow him to his cabin, he’ll provide you shelter and set off to try to clear your name by contacting some of his former influences within the Order.

If you choose not to kill the monsters, then the cabin will be empty, and the entrance to the northeastern dungeon will be blocked.

The CoM Encounters mod adds several additional encounters in various places of Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. One of these occurs adjacent to the "Dungeon Entrance" location on the Windspear Hills map. This encounter is a group of veteran mercenaries hired by "Mr. F" to hinder Gorion's Ward. They'll not let your party enter without going through them first. Some unique loot is possible if you are able to defeat these warriors.
