Wolfweres are 'reverse-werewolves.' They are lycanthropes whose natural form is a wolf with the ability to assume the form of a human or a half-human half-beast hybrid. They look exactly like werewolves in appearance. They are immune to normal weapons and in the Enhanced Editions, they are given a Detect Illusion bonus. They attack with 1d12 slashing damage and have two attacks per round.
There are three 'types' of wolfweres that are encountered in the games with the biggest differences between the three being in hit point amount, xp, thac0, and saving throws (see infobox). There is no physical way to determine which is which. And only two of the three types occur in Baldur's Gate I: Tales of the Sword Coast and the Enhanced Edition and Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and the Enhanced Edition.
